Application Procedure

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applications for the Stanford Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). ERAS will open for application submission on July 1, 2020. 

Apply on or after July 1st if you wish to be considered for a fellowship spot beginning July 1, 2021.

Date Activity
June 8, 2020 ERAS 2021 season begins
June 9, 2020 EFDO begins to generate and distribute MyERAS tokens.
July 1, 2020 Fellowship applicants may begin submitting applications to July cycle fellowship programs.
August 12, 2020 July cycle fellowship programs start review of applications. Virtual interviews will occur from August to October 2020.

We recognize that the COVID pandemic has imposed travel restrictions on applicants. We will be offering virtual video interviews for the upcoming 2020 interview season.

In order to apply, ERAS requires Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship applicants to submit a full application packet that includes the following (please follow current ERAS requirements):

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Copy of USMLE scores
  • Copy of Medical School transcripts
  • Medical Student Performance Evaluation
  • Three letters of recommendation (one letter must be from your residency /fellowship program director)

Applicants who have recently completed residency training should request three letters of recommendation from faculty members in their specialty area who are familiar with their work. One of the letters must be from the Residency/Fellowship Program Director.  The other two letters can be from faculty who are familiar with your work. Applicants currently in practice can provide two letters of reference from peer physicians in their practice community who can vouch for their skills.

ALERT: Please note that all application materials must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

In order to be competitive, please submit complete applications on or before August 30, 2020. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
